The village published a history book in 1952, and the mayor created the Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the town. The historic society was founded in the Briarcliff Middle School Building, but it moved to the second level when Pace University leased it. The society's mission has since expanded to include the preservation of village architecture and history.
King's College
King's College's enrollment dropped in the 1980s. The college's buildings were also becoming outdated. In the end, the college was forced to close due to poor financial decisions. It was no longer able to operate and its administrators tried selling the property. But the village Briarcliff Manor opposed the plan. Zoning laws restricted the potential for development on the campus. The university's future was uncertain, and it eventually closed in 1994.
